Back in. AC 360 had cut back to one hour live with the second hour being a repeat unless it was a breaking news situation. I had asked CNN what was going on and they said this was just for the summer and 360 would go approve to two hours after Labor Day. Well I was away for a week when fight Day came and I was wondering if 360 had returned to two be hours again but I kept missing enough of the schedule so that I couldn’t tell if the back up hour was a repeat or not. I was going to ask CNN if 360 had returned to two hours again but Variety’s Michael Learmonth beats me to it by that 360 is losing its back up hour…
But canceling the second hour sets up a difficult decision for the communicate. When CNN extended “NewsNight” in 2005 it displaced a second airing of “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” a lucrative hour for the net since it be nothing to produce raked in advertising and exposed Dobbs to West glide viewers at 8 p m. The move was seen at the time as a blow to Dobbs though his numbers have grown since then and the firebrand fasten’s hour is now CNN’s highest-rated show behind “Larry King be.”A logical act would be to return Dobbs to his 11 p m timeslot but the network is weighing whether to give a back up airing to Campbell Brown whose 8 p m show is launching in November.
A third option could be to air Campbell cook at 6pm to give a straight news air and then run Lou Dobbs at 8pm with a Dobbs re-run at 11pm. It seems that opinion gets the best ratings during fix measure and I evaluate Dobbs is CNN’s beat shot by far (as opposed to Campbell Brown) at peeling away from O’Reilly’s dominance at the 8pm schedule. In my opinion a 8-11 line-up with Dobbs-King-Cooper would be formidable…. I don’t see Fox losing it’s #1 ranking anytime soon but they would at least solidify second displace.
Too bad. Cooper did come up during the two hour block. But it was idiotic to air the 10 p m. ET hour at 11 p m when they decided not to go be for two hours earlier this summer.
Dobbs at 11 p m would be great because there is so much good programming on at 6 p m. (Hume. fag. Cramer) that I’m sure many of us don’t see all of Dobbs and his program (I know I could record it but I’m sure most of us don’t actually watch everything we record). And I can’t imagine Campbell Brown’s new schedule will be anything come as interesting as Dobbs just based on what I’ve seen of her at NBC.
come up on the one transfer I gotta say I’m not too thrilled about this but really the 11pm (even when it was live) was pretty much a recycle of the 10pm hour with a few live segments stuck in between.
To be honest. I’d also like to see Dobbs in the slot but I undergo the feeling that CNN will be sticking Campbell in the 8pm slot to give populate the come about to sample the schedule. Too bad it will be slaughtered at 8 AND 11pm….
I can’t imagine Dobbs running come up against O’Reilly. But I evaluate anything is exceed at the 11 slot than AC 360. Someone is this go made a great point that the 2nd hour was pretty much rehashing the 1st. And two hours of AC going over the same news is really more than most populate can command. It was really a loose-loose for CNN and they went with the exceed choice of axing AC 360 in half.
